NHDOE Special Education Program Approval & Improvement Process

Application Materials

The LEA and Private School Special Education Applications are part of the NHDOE Special Education Program Approval and Improvement Process and are a requirement of the New Hampshire State Board of Education as specified in its special education rules, Part Ed 1129. The application materials enable each school district and private school to address the requirements contained in the NEW HAMPSHIRE RULES FOR THE EDUCATION OF CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES in a systematic and comprehensive manner.

  • Local Education Agency (LEA) Application FOR NEW SAU'S
New SAUs/districts are required to complete the full application (self-study) and signed assurance page and submit a complete copy of all current special education policies and procedures.

  • Local Education Agency (LEA) Application FOR PREVIOUSLY APPROVED SAUS/DISTRICTS
Existing SAUs are required to submit a signed assurance page and a complete copy of all current special education policies and procedures. Existing SAUs may elect to complete the self-study as well, but it is not required.

  • Application for Private Facilities and Non-District Programs
Private facilities/non-district programs are required to complete the full application, (self-study) and signed assurances page and submit a complete copy of all current special education policies and procedures. These application materials are to be used by currently approved private schools when going through the process of renewing their special education program approval. For changes or additions to approved programs, or for new private schools going through the approval process for the first time, please contact Jane Bergeron-Beaulieu at SERESC at 603-206-6800.
